Free Classes Offered by the Community Food Pantry in Butler

The Food Pantry is offering two free classes to Bates County residents beginning this March.  The first class to be offered is “Making Your Money Stretch,” a money and budgeting skills class.  The second class is a Beginner’s Computer class tailored specifically towards job seekers.  If you are currently looking for a job and your computer skills need improving – this class is for you.  During this 10 week course you will be instructed on basic computer skills like how to use a mouse, navigate the internet, and use Microsoft Office Products.  You will also be taught how to build your own resume.  We hope to offer another computer class in the near future for beginners who are not looking for employment.

Both classes start Wednesday March 20th and will be held at the new Pantry Thrift Store located at 901 South Outer Road.   As of Monday March 11th, there were still spots available for both classes.  “Making Your Money Stretch” will be held from 10:00 – 11:30 every Wednesday for a minimum of 6 weeks.  You will need to bring 2 months’ worth of bank statements and bills to class.  The Beginners Computer Class for Job Seekers class is held every Wednesday for 10 weeks.  Class hours are from 1:00 – 3:00.  Computers are provided but you may bring your own laptop if you prefer.  You will also need to bring paper and pens for taking notes.

We currently have openings in both classes.  Please call the Food Pantry at 660-679-3951 to enroll or to be put on the waiting lists for our next classes.
