Email cites plan to share Mo. gun info with ATF

Republican lawmakers are raising new concerns about the way Missouri has handled a list of concealed gun permit holders after learning about a plan to share it with federal firearms officials.

In a January email, an employee at the Missouri Information Analysis Center said a fraud investigator with theSocial Security Administration had requested a "comprehensive list" of people with Missouri concealed gun permits. The email said it was part of a joint venture with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The state Highway Patrol shared the email with a Missouri House committee Monday. Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Kurt Schaefer and other GOP lawmakers raised concerns about it Tuesday.
The Social Security Administration has said it was unable to read the computer disk and destroyed it.
