The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County EMS responded to a 2 vehicle accident at 10:10am this morning. The accident occurred in the Northbound lanes of I-49 at mile marker 125, in Bates County. A 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 driven by Shelly D Hogan, 33 of Rich Hill Missouri was traveling Northbound in the right lane and turned in front of a Northbound car in the left lane striking it in the rear. The other car involved was a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Venkata P. Mattegunta 30, from Bentonville Arkansas. Hogan's car then travelled off the roadway and came to rest in the median facing South. Both were wearing seatbelts. Shelly Hogan was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital by Ambulance with moderate injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
