Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens to Hold Memorial Day Service Event to feature Avenue of Flags, playing of Taps and TV giveaway

Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens and Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, in partnership with American Legion Post 188, will hold their annual Memorial Day Service of Remembrance at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27 near the flagpole outside the funeral home, 701 North 94th Street in Kansas City. The event is free and open to the public. Call 913-334-3366 for more information.

The service will bring together veterans, patriots and citizens to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The event will include a 32-inch television giveaway and will feature the popular “Avenue of Flags” which lines many of the roadways inside the memorial park. The Avenue of Flags is created by volunteers with the American Legion, which also coordinates the placement of flags on the gravesites of veterans buried at Chapel Hill. Throughout the weekend, Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens General Manager Joel Brinkley will play Taps.

Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens and Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, honored Dignity Memorial® providers in Kansas City, will be open and fully staffed over the three-day weekend to assist families attending the Memorial Day service, locating gravesites of loved ones, providing transportation to gravesites or seeking additional information about the cemetery and funeral home.

The annual Memorial Day service is one of many ways Dignity Memorial providers support and honor veterans and active military. Other efforts include the Dignity Memorial Homeless Veterans Burial Program, the Veterans Planning Guide, educational seminars and special pricing for members of veterans service organizations.
