(Butler,
Mo.), May 7, 2013—Bates County Executive Director Michael Finley
for USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds producers that June 3,
2013, is the final day to enroll in the Average Crop Revenue
Protection (ACRE) program for the 2013 crop year. ACRE is a
revenue-based safety net, as opposed to the price-based safety net
provided by counter-cyclical payments through the Direct and
Counter-Cyclical Program (DCP).
2013
DCP signup has lagged behind its normal pace with very few farms
enrolled for the annual October payment $$. We would like to
encourage producers to come in as soon as possible to beat the lines
to sign up.
The
USDA Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) general signup begins May 20,
2013 thru June 14, 2013. The general signup allows producers to enter
10 to 15 year contracts to convert row crop ground to grass cover for
a yearly rental payment. General sign up also allows producers to
reoffer expiring CRP contracts back into the program. Continuous CRP
signup begins May 13, 2013 which includes waterways, filter strips
and quail buffers.
The
deadline to report spring planted small grains (Oats) is May 15.
Corn, soybeans, sunflowers, and CRP must be reported by July 15.
Signup
for 2011 SURE disaster ends June 7, 2013. Signatures must be obtained
by this date to be eligible for payment. Still no information on any
disaster programs for 2012 drought.
Registration
for email and texting is on presently on going. Producers have the
option to keep abreast of farm program changes as they happen
electronically. For more information visit the Bates County Office,
or at www.fsa.usda.gov or call
660-679-6112.
