Missouri Govenor Jay Nixon Signs New Bill
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has signed into law a bill shielding security plans and public buildings from open-records requests. House Bill 256 was approved by the state legislature this year without opposition. It restores two exceptions to the Missouri "sunshine" law that expired last year. The first related to operational guidelines and policies developed by law enforcement, public safety, first responders and public health authorities for preventing and responding to terrorism incidents. The second relates to security systems and structural plans for property owned or leased by a government agency.
