RELAY FOR LIFE RESULTS


The Annual American Cancer Society, Relay for Life was held on the Butler Square Saturday June 1st. Butler and Bates County Teams raised $45,314.37 dollars to be donated to the American Cancer Society.
14 local teams worked all year to generate these funds, The Sponsors and the purchase of Luminaries helped reach this goal.
There were 656 regular luminaries were purchased and 14 lantern luminaries. The Luminary readers were Ron Dunlap, Gary and Jessie Schowengerdt and Carol Ann Winburn.
Team Hope was the recognized as the, “ Most Spirit Winner”. Team “Christians Conquering Cancer” was recognized with the best campsite.
The 2013 Relay for Life Corporate sponsors generated $9,800.00 dollars. The donations from the Live Auction generated $2818.50 dollars and the Silent auction generated $780.00. The 2013 Relay for life would like to thank Perry Heckadon Auctioneer, Don  Ghere and Herman Shubert  Clerk for the donation  their time for the success of the auction.
Persons walking the longest was:  
Kelly Close 20 miles, Rachel Oliver 20 miles and Penny Sullins walking 10 miles, all were member of Team Lifesavers.
The 2013 Relay for Life Grand Prize winners were;
Missy McCoy winning the $500.00 dollar cash prize, donated by Heartland Hospice , Missy donated $400.00 dollars of her winnings back to Relay for Life . The handmade quilt donated by Sharon Cumpton was won by Keith Fleischer, the $125.00 gift card donated by Country Mart was won by Ray Kimminau.
