The Missouri Bar is Accepting Nominations from the General Public for the Annual Pro Bono Publico Awards

In recognition of the attorneys or law firms who demonstrate exemplary service to low-income individuals who need legal assistance, and to encourage all attorneys to imitate their example, The Missouri Bar will be accepting nominations from the general public for the Annual Pro Bono Publico Awards.

Four awards are given annually to individual attorneys or law firms in the St. Louis area, Kansas City area, and two in the out-state area. The criteria for nomination includes:

§  A significant part of the service must occur during the preceding year.

§  The service must be provided without compensation to the attorney except for reimbursement of actual expenses.

§  A significant part of the service must be rendered directly to low-income persons (under 200% of federal poverty level) or to a public or tax-exempt nonprofit organization which directly serves low-income individuals.

§  The recipient must not have received the award within the prior five years.

§  The attorney must be a member in good standing of The Missouri Bar.

Any person can nominate an attorney for the award using the online nomination form (http://www.mobar.org/probono-nomination.htm?terms=pro%20bono%20award) or by submitting a nomination letter. The deadline for receipt of nominations is June 18, 2013.
