Deaton will continue to serve as chancellor emeritus with a focus on international development.
He has been Chancellor since October 2004. During his tenure enrollment has grown by more than 28 percent, research expenditures and grants received both rose by more than 46 percent and the University opened 21 new buildings. Mizzou athletics also joined the Southeastern Conference under his leadership. See the University’s official announcement here.
