Investigation continues
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation into missing money from the Henry County Circuit Clerks Office is continuing. The investigation began earlier this year when discrepancies were found in several accounts. Deputy Lee Hilty and Deputy Chase Jackson have been assigned to work the case from the Sheriff’s Office after an audit was completed by the Office of State Courts Administrator. Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom said Prosecuting Attorney Richard Shields had requested that the Attorney General Office be appointed special prosecutor in the matter considering he and his office staff may also be victims and/or witnesses in this case.
“The matter has been accepted by the Attorney General and we are waiting to meet with the assigned prosecutor to review our case. We are hopeful that will occur this week”, Sheriff Oberkrom added.
