ROUTE 54 BETWEEN NEVADA & EL DORADO SPRINGS SET FOR RESURFACING BEGINNING WEEK OF JULY 15

Vernon Through Cedar Counties -- Route 54 between I-49 in Nevada and Route 32 near El Dorado Springs is scheduled to be resurfaced beginning the week of July 15. The Missouri Department of Transportation has said that crew will begin work at I-49 in Nevada and progress toward El Dorado Springs.
During this project there will be 18 miles of Route 54 between I-49 in Nevada and Route 32 in El Dorado Springs resurfaced, concrete shoulders along Route 54 in Dederick resurfaced, and edge-line and center-line rumble stripes on Route 54 installed. The Prime Contractor is Chester Bross Construction Co. of Palmyra. The cost of the construction will be $2.3 million. The date of completion is late September, but the contractor has plans to complete the project well ahead of the deadline.
The traffic impact to expect will include: one-lane traffic where crews are set up, pilot vehicles to lead drivers through work zones, flaggers to direct traffic through work zones, nighttime lane closings when crews reach El Dorado Springs as crews will only work at night between the hours of 7PM and 7AM. Other than the nighttime workers near El Dorado Springs the rest of the project will take place during the day.
