Marian “Eileen” Griffith, 75, Adrian, Missouri, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian.
Eileen was born December 10, 1937 in Greenwood, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Glenn and Mary Maria (Kennedy) Hamilton. She married Lloyd C. Griffith of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, on April 6, 1958, at Greenwood Christian Church. They were married for close to 34 years before he passed away at 56 years of age on March 5, 1992.
Eileen worked at Unity School of Christianity as a graphotype typist for three years after graduating from Lee’s Summit High School in 1955. She quit working to be on the farm with her husband from April 1958 until the fall of that year, and then she went back to work at Unity for two more years until their first child, David Lloyd Griffith, was born on May 8, 1960. Two and a half years later, Susan Eileen Griffith was born on December 14, 1962. Eileen worked with her husband on farms at Greenwood, Pleasant Hill, Drexel, Lacygne, KS, Butler, and finally, Adrian, where they had a dairy farm for 16 years.
Eileen accepted Christ at 10 years of age on October 3, 1948. She was a member of the Adrian Christian Church. She enjoyed church activities, Solo Club, flower gardening, and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd C. Griffith, one brother, Robert H. Hamilton, one sister, Hanna Nadine Jones, and her son, David Lloyd Griffith. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Eileen Taylor and her husband, Bart, Adrian, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Amy Michelle Griffith, Melissa Ann Griffith, Joshua David Griffith, Benjamin Lloyd Griffith and David Taylor Griffith; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Marie Greene and her husband, Don, Pleasant
