On
Monday, October 14, the Butler Bears junior high football team traveled
to the Windsor Greyhounds for their final game of the season. The Bears
won the game by a final score of 32-0. The Bears offense was forced to
punt on its opening drive, but then proved quite dominant scoring in the
next four consecutive drives. Several Bears scored rushing touchdowns
for the Bears in this game, including RB Connor Wolf, RB Martin
Melhuish, WR Ethan Gardner, and RB Cole Kuda. RB Martin Melhuish led all
rushers with 79 yards on only 2 carries. The Bears converted all four
PAT’s, 3 by RB Connor Wolf, and 1 by QB Seth Stump. QB Seth Stump went 2
for 3 in passing, connecting with WR Ethan Gardner for 33 yards and RB
Cole Kuda for 7 yards. QB Cody Gabriel also completed an 8 yard pass to
WR Jakob Koehn.
The
Bears defense shut down the Greyhounds offense the entire game, keeping
them well out of scoring range from start to finish. Defensively, LB
Jakob Koehn led the Bears defense with 7 tackles. LB Ethan Gardner and
FS Seth Stump both intercepted Greyhound passes, stopping drives. LB
Connor Wolf also recovered a fumbled punt return from the Greyhounds.
The Bears concluded their season with a 4-2 record.
