October is Fire Prevention Month. According to Jim Henry, Fire Chief of the Butler Fire Department, October 6th through the 12th is designated for Fire Prevention Week this year. The Butler Fire Department has smoke alarms for anyone who doesn’t have one in their home. The city ordinance allows each household one smoke alarm. They will install it for you, or replace the batteries in an existing smoke alarm in your home. This service is available all year around.
