On
Sunday, November 11, 2013, Deputies were called to assist the
Missouri State Highway Patrol after a vehicle had fled from a vehicle
stop. The pursuit began northwest of Butler and ended just north of
52 in area known as Coleman’s Junk Yard. The vehicle found parked
outside one of the trailers was abandoned. The owner of the vehicle
was located at that residence but was not the driver of the vehicle.
The driver had fled on foot in an unknown direction.
Additional
Deputies were called in an attempt to search for the subject. Bates
County K9 Lecter hand several deputies searched on foot for a couple
of hours. The subject was not located in the area and the search was
called off. Attempts were made by Deputies to notify area residents.
We
believe that the subject knew the area since he drove the vehicle to
the owner’s house and was comfortable with the hiding place he was
at. The owner of the vehicle claims to have just met the subject
that borrowed his truck. The owner of the truck was arrested and
transported to jail for questioning on an unrelated burglary.
