Butler Fire Department hosted a Basic Fire Service Pump Operations course for area fire departments

On November 8 & 9, 2013, the Butler Fire Department hosted a Basic Fire Service Pump Operations course for area fire departments.

The training was a no-cost class and was provided through the University of Missouri Fire & Rescue Training Institute. The instructor was Mike Jenkins from the North Kansas City Fire Department.

Training consisted of classroom instruction on Friday evening. On Saturday morning, participants went to the Butler Aquatic Center parking lot where practical evolutions were conducted. Departments had the option to bring their own trucks for the practical training evolutions.

A total of 23 students attended from Adrian Fire Dept., Amsterdam Fire Dept., Butler Fire Dept., Central Cass Co. Fire Protection District, Lowry City Fire Dept., Montrose Fire Dept., Rockville Fire Dept., Rich Hill and Sac-Osage Fire Protection Dist. (Osceola).

The training gives the departments the opportunity to practice their skills with their own equipment, but also lets departments that may respond together to emergencies become familiar with each other's equipment, personnel, and equipment.
