Sheriff Reports Largest
Drug Seizure This Year
Thomas J Toothaker |
The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office
announced Tuesday that it has filed for a second felony warrant on a
subject that was arrested late Thursday night in Milo. Vernon County
Sheriff Jason Mosher said that his deputies and agents from the C-Net
Drug Task Force was conducting an investigation into drug
distribution in Vernon County and had been doing surveillance on a
residence just inside Milo. Sheriff Mosher said the deputies and DTF
agents pulled into a driveway as a vehicle was getting ready to
leave. When the deputies walked up to the car, they noticed a gun in
the floorboard. “The driver was a suspect of the investigation and
a convicted felon so they immediately placed him under arrest for
possession of a firearm” said the Sheriff. The driver has been
identified as Thomas J Toothaker, 32 of Milo Mo.
The Sheriff said the
vehicle Toothaker was driving was impounded by the Sheriff’s Office
while his office applied for a search warrant. The warrant was served
and a search of Toothaker’s vehicle was conducted Friday afternoon
revealing one of the largest Methamphetamine seizures this year. “We
seized over 50 grams of methamphetamines and 100 grams marijuana
along with scales and bags for distribution” said Mosher. “We
also discovered that the handgun in the vehicle had been reported
stolen out of Nevada from a vehicle.”
The Sheriff said that a
warrant has been issued for possession of a firearm and that his
office has filed for a second warrant on Tuesday for distribution.
Toothaker is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $100,000 cash
only bond.
