On
Wednesday, December 17, 2013 Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom and Major
Robert D. Hills presented donations to the Samaritan Center on behalf
of the staff of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
During
the recent Henry County Employee Holiday Luncheon, several staff from
the Sheriff’s Office won Chamber of Commerce gift certificates.
Several of the staff chose to donate their gifts to the Samaritan
Center so that those in need might have a brighter holiday season.
Those donating their certificates were Capt. Jason Shackles, Sgt.
Mike Nelson, Sgt. Brian Bigler, Cpl. Aaron Brown, Deputy Chase
Jackson. The donations totaled $120.00. In addition to the gift
certificates, the Sheriff’s Office has a money collection jar at
the office where staff can place funds for donation. An additional
$39.00 was raised over the past several months and that money was
also donated to the Samaritan Center.
Sheriff
Oberkrom said, “I am certainly not surprised by the actions of our
staff in making these donations. Deputies work hard every day and
see the need every day. Just as we have seen here, they put others
before self. I am very proud to be serving with them.”
