Butler Police Department Press Release: Vehicle Pursuit Early morning today‏

Around 6:30am this morning a Butler Police Officer stopped in at Conoco and was advised by the clerk that a man in a Blue ford passenger vehicle just drove off without paying for fuel.  The officer then attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver of the car refused to pull over and fled South on I-49. The pursuit traveled South down I-49. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Bates County Sheriffs deputies joined the chase and attempted to stop the vehicle with spike strips South of Rich Hill, however the suspect avoided the spike strips. The chase was terminated by the police at Nevada due to the conditions to the roads in Vernon County.  The identity of the suspect is still unknown, as was the reason he fled from Police.
