Funeral services for Betty Jean Richards will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 2-3 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Garden of Memories in Pittsburg, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Heartland Hospice, Alzheimer's Association or the Butler High School Special Olympics Team.
Betty Jean Richards, age 87 of Butler, Missouri, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at her home in Butler. She was born January 8, 1927 to Chester and Allie Lou Green Ohlhausen in Pittsburg, Kansas. Betty is survived by four daughters, Jacque Austin and husband David of Orange City, Florida, Patti George of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Nancy Petty and husband Jerry of Wheatland, Missouri and Karen Hastings and husband Rob of Adrian, Missouri; one brother, Gary Ohlhausen and wife Mary Ann of Reno, Nevada; four sisters, Ruth Halloway of Independence, Missouri, Shirley Bowen of Independence, Missouri, Linda Crane and husband Jim of Independence, Missouri and Barbara Baert of Joplin, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jeff Hurd, Kelli Heckadon and husband Perry, Jennifer Murphy and husband Kevin, Karli Searcy and husband Chad, Grant Austin and Bryan Hasting and wife Tiffany; 21 great-grandchildren; and special caregiver Delores Nolan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gene in 2011; two brothers, Bill and Kenny Ohlhausen; and three sisters, Donna Nesbitt, Violet Hughes and Wonda Dowty
