Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-49 south of the Milo exit where power lines were reported in the road way. The first deputy on scene attempted to check on the driver when a semi driving in the opposite lane caught the power line as it drove by.

The power line caught on the deputies leg and drug him a short distance before he was able to get loose. An ambulance was dispatched but was disregarded a short time later. The deputy continued to work the accident by assisting state Troopers.

All four lanes of 71 were closed for over an hour and a second accident occurred on I-49 near Compton Junction that also required I-49 being closed so me flight could land to transport the driver. A total of 5 deputies were dispatched to assist in the two accidents.
