The Nevada Police are asking the public to come forward with any information regarding a Tuesday morning arrest.
Officers received several complaints around 7 a.m. Tuesday that children walking to school on North Main Street were being chased by an intoxicated man with a hammer.
The police department said that upon arriving at the scene, officers were attacked by the man in question. Nevada resident Douglas Scholes, 39, was taken into custody Tuesday morning.
Scholes faces charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting/interfering with arrest. He is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $1,500 cash bond.
According to Missouri court records, Scholes previously pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer in 2009.
