UPDATE: Accident Involving Tractor and Gravel Truck Near Merwin

Around 8:40am this morning the Amsterdam Fire Department along with Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bates County Sheriff's Office, Bates County EMS and Adrian Fire Department all responded to a 2 vehicle accident on 18 Highway and County Road 12001 just outside of Merwin. The accident occurred when the 2005 Kenworth driven by Ronnie E. Reed 58, Of Kansas City Missouri and the 1983 John Deere tractor driven by Mathew J. Kohler 31, of Amsterdam, Missouri were both Eastbound on Missouri 18 Highway when Mr. Reed attempted to pass the tractor which was turning North onto County Road 12001 and struck it in the side, Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the roadway. Mr. Reed received moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital. Both vehicles received minor damage
