Turkey Hunters Check In More Than last year

Turkey hunters checked more kills in the five-county Nevada area during the just-completed Spring season than they did a year ago. The Missouri Conservation Department lists 2,719 kills in Vernon, Bates, St. Clair, Cedar and Barton County -- up some 41% from the 1927 for the Spring of 2013. This year's harvest included 2,62 adult gobblers, 419 juvenile gobblers and 38 bearded hens. Turkey hunters in Vernon County checked 464 adult gobblers, 85 juvenile gobblers and seven bearded hens for a total of 556. The Spring harvest in the other counties included 707 in St. Clair County, 687 in Cedar County, 446 in Bates County and 323 in Barton County. The Spring turkey season ended Sunday.
