A felony charge alleging leaving the scene of an injury accident has been filed in connection with Wednesday's collision on Vernon County 1425 road, eight miles South of Nevada. The Missouri Highway Patrol says it happened about 4:30 p.m. when a pick-up truck driven by Scott Harrell, 35, of rural Nevada, crested a hit and hit a riding mower driven by John Micklich, throwing Micklich off the West side of the road. He was flown to Freeman Hospital, Joplin, with serious injuries. Harrell allegedly ran from the scene and sheriff Jason Mosher says his officers searched unsuccessfully for him for about 45 minutes before responding to another call. The sheriff adds Harrell apparently reappeared only to be held at gun-point by some residents of the area until officers could return. He was booked Wednesday at 2040 E. Hunter Street and the class D felony warrant was issued Thursday. A formal arraignment is pending in Vernon County associate circuit court.
