Funeral services for Earl VanSlyke will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, Missouri. Contributions to Ohio Street United Methodist Church. 

Thomas Earl VanSlyke, age 87 of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri. He was born September 1, 1926 to Thomas Allen and Mary Louise Means VanSlyke in Altona, Missouri. 

Earl is survived his wife, Ruetta Vanslyke of Butler, Missouri; one daughter, Dana Nealon and husband Joel of Raymore, Missouri; one brother, Steven VanSlyke and wife Leona of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Bob Beard and wife Jeanette of Adrian, Missouri; sister-in-law, Judy Kennedy of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Brady Nealons and Natalie Nealon, both of Raymore, Missouri; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard VanSlyke; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Joe Carter and Dorothy VanSlyke.
