Cass County Sheriffs Office: Operation SHIELD


Cass County – On Thursday June 26, 2014, 74 State, County, Local & Federal Law Enforcement Officers participated in "Operation SHIELD" in Cass County.  “Operation SHIELD” is a joint endeavor to conduct a sex offender compliance/address verification sweep in the rural and incorporated areas of Cass County.   Sex offenders in the following Cities: Archie, Austin, Baldwin Park, Belton, Cleveland, Creighton, Drexel, East Lynne, Freeman, Garden City, Greenwood, Gunn City, Harrisonville, Lake Annette, Lake Winnebago, Lee's Summit, Loch Lloyd, Peculiar, Pleasant Hill, Raymore, Strasburg, & West Line were checked during the operation.

This Operation checked all 136 sex offenders residing in Cass County.  The results of the operation found 49 registered sex offenders were compliant with registration requirements.  53 offenders were non-compliant which resulted in 4 criminal summons, 6 arrests made on warrants, and 13 additional criminal investigations initiated. The remaining 34 could not be verified and deputies with the Cass County Sheriff's Office will complete compliance follow ups with those individuals.
 

In addition to uniformed law enforcement the operation was staffed by members of the Missouri Probation and Parole and assisted by the Cass County Prosecutors Office.
          
The Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force provided specially trained teams that previewed more than 20 computers and electronic devices. 

Agencies that participated in the operation include: Archie Police Department, Belton Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Cass County Prosecutor’s Office, Cass County Sheriff's Office, Garden City Police Department, Harrisonville Police Department, Independence Police Department Career Criminal Task Force, Missouri Probation & Parole Dist. 28, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Raymore Police Department, Peculiar Police Department, Pleasant Hill Police Department, United States Marshals Service, and the Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Taskforce.
