STOCKTON, Mo. - A couple on a hike found a body on
Sunday afternoon at Crabtree Cove on Stockton Lake. The body belonged
to a man but investigators say they don't know his identity.
The discovery was about 4 p.m. Cedar County sheriff's deputies and
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rangers started investigating but then
called the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The Highway Patrol asked the
FBI to investigate the death because the man's body was on federal
property.
Cedar County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jason Johnson estimated the body had
been there two to three days. The FBI removed the body about 11:30 p.m.
Sunday. An autopsy is scheduled in Springfield on Tuesday. Bates County Live will update this when more information becomes available.
