St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Arrest made for unlawful use of a weapon

On Aug. 20, St. Clair County deputies responded to Appleton City in reference to a report of a man pulling a gun on a woman and her son. Sheila Prater reported Donald Wareham was yelling at her son and pointed a shotgun at him. Prater explained she walked over to tell Wareham to put it away and he pulled the shotgun on her. A request for prosecution was signed. 

Contact was made with Wareham on West Burbank Street, Appleton City. During the investigation a loaded shotgun matching the description was located and seized from Wareham. Wareham, 56, was arrested and placed into custody for unlawful use of a weapon and third degree assault. Total bond was set at $6,000 cash or surety and a court date of Oct. 3 was issued. Formal charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.
