Municipal Airport of
Nevada, Mo held a medical flight training seminar last week for the
Vernon County Sheriff’s Office. The training included extensive
training for proper landing zones, inclement weather, approaching the
aircraft and weight standards of the aircraft. MedFlight is a big
supporter of the community and other facilities up to 150 miles from
their base at the Municipal Airport. Detective Johnson who
participated in the training said Medflight is more than willing to
come and help out at any point in time, they have helped out on
numerous occasions we have had here in Vernon County. I feel like I
learned a lot of new information that is going to help myself and the
Vernon County Sheriff’s office when it comes to injuries of
personnel and civilians. Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said he
is trying to expand his deputies training beyond what is considered
“standard” and training like this is one way of doing that. “We
respond to wrecks, domestics and other incidents where people have
been inured but law enforcement often overlooks training in certain
areas. This was some very valuable training for our office to receive
and our staff will be able to work with medflight even better than
before.” said Mosher.
