Next 24 hours look stormy for us, especially for those living north of Highway 36 and on into Iowa and eastern Nebraska. Will probably see a couple waves of showers and storms, most likely starting early to mid afternoon over northwest and west central Missouri. These storms could become severe with large hail and damaging winds the most likely threat. However, due to timing and a rather unstable airmass can't rule out a tornado or two closer to the Iowa and Missouri border.
The area of rain will likely expand in coverage this evening with areas north of I-70 having the best chance for rain. The further north you go the higher the chances for rain and severe weather. Heavy rains will also be a threat with up to 2 inches possible across northern Missouri. A cold front will plow through the region on Wednesday with temperatures falling into the 60s by afternoon.
We'll tackle the coolest temperatures we've seen in several months once we get through today and tonights stormy weather.
