Margaret J. Cook, 91 of Butler, Missouri passed away December 9, 2014 at Adrian Manor in Adrian, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Butler with Fr. Thomas Hermes as Celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:30 – 7 PM at Mullinax Funeral Home (660-679-0009) in Butler, where the Rosary will begin at 7 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montrose, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, National MS Society, or Adrian Manor activity fund. Margaret J. (Munsterman) Cook was born November 12, 1923 in Montrose, Missouri to Joseph and Barbara Munsterman. She married Donald Cook on January 7, 1947, and to this union seven children were born.
Margaret worked three years selling Amway. She was a seamstress for over five years and would often take on many sewing projects long past those five years. She worked 19 years part-time at the Butler Grade School cafeteria. She was a full-time wife and mother aside from all those occupations.
Margaret had many interests and hobbies. She pieced quilts, gardened, often canning over 500 quarts a season. She loved to make baked goods not only for family, but also to give to friends and acquaintances. She loved to play cards with family and friends, drink coffee and socialize with friends. She also liked to read for pleasure, and she prayed daily for well over an hour. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and an active member for many years in the Women’s Altar Society, where she served as president for two years. She organized and managed many social events and activities for the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Barbara Munsterman, her loving husband Donald Cook, and a grandson, Donald Cook. She leaves her three sons, Ronald Cook of Chilhowie, Missouri; Earl Cook and wife Tommy of Concordia, Missouri; and Kenneth Cook and wife Sheree of Adrian, Missouri; four daughters, Carol Hartline and husband Terry of Lamar, Missouri; Elaine Schraml and husband Wayne of Harrisonville, Missouri; Diane Taranto and husband Joe of Belton, Missouri; and Charlene Blacksher and husband Todd of Springfield, Missouri; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
