Obituary - Kyle Jacob Smidt

Kyle Jacob Smidt, 24 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, formerly of Warrensburg passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. 

Kyle was born May 26, 1990 in Warrensburg. He grew up in Warrensburg and graduated from Warrensburg High School in 2008. He attended lineman school at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City for two years. After graduation, Kyle worked in the flooring business with his brothers and father. He was an avid Kansas Jayhawks fan as well as a devoted follower of the Royals and Chiefs. His hobbies included fishing and video games, but he especially enjoyed spoiling his nieces and nephews.

He leaves behind the love of his life, fiancé: Samantha Born and their dog, Zoey; mother and stepfather: Kandi and Ronald Catts of Warrensburg, MO; father: Michael Smidt of Warrensburg, MO; three brothers and sister-in-laws: Ryan and Andrea Smidt of Lee’s Summit, MO; Andrew and Melissa Smidt of Knob Noster, MO and Dane and Sarah Smidt of Warrensburg, MO; stepbrother and step sister-in-law: Adam and Brittany Catts of Sedalia, MO; maternal grandmother and step grandfather: Frieda and Harry Bryson of Holden, MO; his most beloved nieces and nephews: Tucker, Cole, Jessica, Ava & Jason Smidt and Ashley Fisher; his fiancé, Samantha’s parents: Greg and Cindy Born of Warrensburg, MO; and Samantha’s brother: Zach Born of Ft. Riley, KS. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Kenneth Ross and paternal grandmother, Christine Whiteman.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7th at First Baptist Church in Warrensburg with Pastor Bob Alexander of Old Paths Baptist Church in Independence officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Johnson County Cancer Foundation in care of the funeral chapel.
