Vernon County Sheriffs Office: Man arrested after forcing his way into a residence

Two warrants containing multiple charges were issued Friday afternoon for a Vernon County resident after deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call Thursday afternoon just south of Nevada. 

Gail G Stafford, 36 of Nevada has been charged with felony charges of 1st degree burglary, and, resisting arrest, as well as two misdemeanor charges of domestic assault, and property damage. According to reports, Stafford allegedly forced his way into a residence during a dispute and after being made to leave the residence by occupants inside, Stafford tried again to break in through a window. 

During the incident dispatch lost communication with the deputy that had responded and two additional deputies were dispatched to the scene for back-up. Stafford tried to resist arrest when the deputy told him he was going to jail. Stafford is being held in the Vernon County Jail on bonds totaling $16,000 cash or surety.
