John E. Jackson |
On July 18,
2015 Bates County Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched back to
the Sheriff's Office in regards to a suicidal male subject who had
just entered the lobby. Dispatch had just received a call from Bates
County Memorial Hospital stating that this subject had just left the
hospital against their medical advice. Someone from the hospital
witnessed this subject take a hand full of pills in the hospital's
parking lot and then he drove off.
Once the
Deputy made contact with the subject, who was identified as John
Edwin Jackson, they noticed he showed indicators of being under the
influence of a substance. Mr. Jackson was very fidgety and appeared
to be slightly confused. He admitted to the Deputy that he had just
taken methadone. Mr. Jackson gave the Deputy consent to search his
vehicle that was located in the west parking lot of the Sheriff's
Office. During the search of his vehicle, the Deputy found
approximately 9.5 grams of a white crystal substance that field
tested positive for Methamphetamine. The Deputy also found bottles
that contained Lisionpril, Methadone and Oxycodone. The Deputy was
unable to read Jackson's name on the medicine bottle. Under the
front seat of Jackson's vehicle, the Deputy located a 9mm hand gun
that was loaded. There was also a rifle in the back floor board that
had a bullet loaded in the chamber.
The Deputy
took Jackson into custody. John Edwin Jackson was charged with
Possession of a Controlled Substance, which is a Class C Felony. His
bond was set at $10,000.00 cash or surety.
