UPDATE-Breaking news: Two subjects on the run in Vernon County

A short time ago two subjects, described as one white male and one black male fled from deputies near Douglas and Washington streets in Nevada.

At this time the Vernon County sheriff's office, Nevada police and the Missouri Highway Patrol are canvassing the area. The direction of travel is unknown, it is recommended that if you see the subjects, do not approach them and call 911 immediately.

Update 2:33 pm- Subjects are thought to be near a truck stop at Austin street and I-49. Again, if you see them do not approach and call 911. Subjects are possibly armed.

Update- 2:56 pm- One subject captured, one still at large. It is being reported that during the pursuit of the subjects, there were multiple vehicle accidents and other property damage.
 

Update - 3:25 p.m. The Nevada R-5 Schools are on "exterior lockdown". All exterior doors are locked while the on going situation in Nevada is evolving. They will release more information later. Cottey College is also locked down.

UPDATE AT 4:05 PM...The Nevada R-5 School District has announced they WILL NOT be running for busses for students this afternoon due to the continued manhunt in Nevada. All Nevada R-5 students will need to be picked up by parents by 5:15 p.m. All Nevada High School students will not be released to drive at this time if they have vehicles at the high school.
