According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, high winds was the cause of
a semi accident that occurred at 1pm on July 14, 2016, on State Highway
51 at the Verdigris River bridge westbound side, 4.5 miles west of
Wagoner in Wagoner County.
According to the report, a 2010 Freightliner semi driven by Robert
"Bob" Verdic, 56 of Adrian MO, was traveling westbound on SH51, and due to
extreme high winds from a storm the truck overturned on the bridge.
The driver was partially ejected causing his arm to become pinned
between the truck and the roadway. Driver was freed by Wagoner Fire and
Rescue.
Verdic was admitted to St Francis hospital in Tulsa where he is
listed in stable condition with head, trunk internal and arm injuries.
The accident was investigated by Trooper James Ritze of the
Wagoner county detachment of Troop C. Assisted by Trooper Chris Herd of
Troop S.
