On 8/22/16 at approximately 7:45 A.M., a student was observed in a
vehicle by a school official in the parking lot of Clinton High School
and the student appeared to be smoking marijuana. The school official contacted the student and asked them accompany them into the building. The student did not comply but instead, drove off the premises.
The school official notified the Clinton Police Department and the student’s vehicle was stopped in the area of 3rd and Bodine Streets. The student gave consent to a search of the vehicle.
The search yielded an amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a single shot 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition. The student, 17 year old Jacob Smith, was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful use of a weapon/prohibited places.
Mr. Smith was transported to the Henry County Detention Center with a bond amount of $1500.00
