Lillie was raised in Vernon and Barton Counties. She attended school in Mindenmines and in 1938 she graduated from Mindenmines High School. Lillie was employed at Key Work Clothes in Nevada for 35 years. She then worked an additional 15 years at the Nevada Senior Center where she became the head cook. Lillie enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Harry Pitts and his wife Shirley, Bronaugh, Larry Pitts and his wife Sharon, Bronaugh; two daughters, Viola Cain, Moundville, Nancy Pitts, Bronaugh; four grandchildren, Lillie Ann Wingate and her husband Doug, Jerry Cain and his wife Kathi Jo, Steve Cain and his wife Amber, Paul Pitts and his wife Katie; seven great-grandchildren, Kieran Cain, E.J. Wingate, Gus Cain, Keilah Cain, Clara Cain, J.D. Wingate, Heidi Cain. In addition to her husband Chester she was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons, one great-granddaughter, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Bob Dickey officiating. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery in Bronaugh. Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
