Leone was a homemaker and worked as a school secretary in Dadeville, Mo. She was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook, and loved to read. Leone spent many hours helping her husband in the vegetable garden and canning. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their music, theater and sports events. Leone was also active in various garden clubs and church organizations, but she especially enjoyed over 50 years as an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Leone is survived by her children; Betty Jo Laflen (Jerry), Moundville, Joseph D. Marlow, Jr. (Tammy) Springfield, Becky Jane Toler (Kenneth) Bolivar, Martin Marlow (Beth) Springfield; son-in-law, Lyndon Irwin of Bois D’Arc; grandchildren, Joseph Laflen (Adrian), Jerry Laflen (Jill), Jeffrey Laflen (Holly), John Laflen (Julie), Russ Marlow (Lindsey), Brian Toler, Kendra Young (Zachary), Brandon Toler (Chelsea), Krista Stander (Jordan), John Irwin (Risa), Phillip Irwin (Ashley), Thomas Marlow, and Vance Marlow; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Hensley, Odessa and Jane Hacker, Blue Springs; one brother-in-law, Howard Marlow (Helen); one sister-in-law, Bobby Marlow; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and many special friends. Leone was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Barbara Jean Irwin; and four siblings, Kenneth New, Howard New, JoAnn Kurtz, and Opal New.
Funeral services for Martha Leone Marlow will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Lockwood United Methodist Church in Lockwood with Pastor Travis James officiating. Interment will follow in Lockwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the O.E.S. Service that will begin at 11:20 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Lockwood United Methodist Church or the Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
