Obituary - Thomas Richard “Dick” Hetherington

Thomas Richard “Dick” Hetherington, 84 years, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016, at his home in Buckner, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri. Visitation will be one hour prior. 

Interment will be at Vansant Road Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Crossroads Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home. Fond memories and condolences can be left online at www.Vansant-Millsfuneralhome.com.

Dick was born on September 28, 1932 in Henry County, Missouri to Ralph Earl Hetherington and Mary Lucille Hetherington. Although he enjoyed watching, and in his high school years, playing basketball and baseball, working was his passion. He was a self-employed trucker for over thirty years. Dick was a very politically minded person and served as the Henry County Clerk for sixteen years. He was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Ralph Hetherington, Jr. and William Roger Hetherington, daughter; Lora Simmons, and two wives; Georgia Orr and Peggy Hall Hetherington.

Among survivors are his two sons; Thomas Hetherington (Susan) of Gladstone, Missouri and Max Hetherington of Clinton, Missouri, one daughter; Deborah Wolff (Steve) of Kansas City, Missouri, two brothers; Leroy Hetherington (Thelma) and Jim Hetherington (Teresa) both of Clinton, Missouri, three sisters; Nina Reese of Buckner, Missouri, Lynda Robertson (Bruce) of Buckner, Missouri, and Sandy Carter (Wayne) of Holden, Missouri, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
