Wintry Weekend Ahead

Wintry Weekend Weather. OK, after 7 midnight shifts that's absolutely all of my alliteration ability.

It's going to be a messy and cold weekend. Freezing drizzle still looks possible across the entire area Friday morning. But temperatures are expected to warm above freezing by midday south of Highway 36, transitioning the freezing drizzle to just drizzle. For folks north of this corridor though, it could get icy with several hundredths of in inch of icing possible throughout the day as temperatures remain below freezing.

Friday night and through the day Saturday, the really cold air will move in. Temperatures should steadily fall Saturday with light snow possible. We still don't see much in the way of accumulations. Most areas should see less than half an inch. Some folks may see more but still less than an inch. Which brings us to Sunday. Dangerously cold temperatures will settle in with lows of -5° to 5° and wind chill values in the -10 to -25 range overnight and early in the morning.

If you have to be outside Sunday morning, protect yourself from the cold. Wear multiple loose fitting layers of clothing. Cover your head, face and mouth to prevent loss of body heat.
