The Kansas State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1993 Ford driven by 59 year old Darryl D. Skaggs of Pittsburg, Kansas left roadway, entering the ditch on the east side of the roadway where it continued traveling for another 360 feet before striking a Junction box. It then continued another 77 feet striking a tree and catching fire.
Mr. Skaggs was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The vehicle was totaled and it was towed from the scene by Bob's Garage.
