Garden City Crisis Intervention Team responds to disturbance

On 1/2/17 Officers of the Garden City Police Department responded to reports of a disturbance involving a 30 year old man with no cloths running around and yelling in the 400 block of 10th street. 

#GCMOPD Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officers assisted by Lake Winnebago PD contacted the man and were able to take him into custody without injury. The man was transported to Cass Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Garden City Police Chief Thomas R. Alber implemented the CIT program in Garden City to more effectively respond to these situations The CIT program is designed to improve the way law enforcement and the community respond to people experiencing mental health crisis. They are built on strong partnerships between law enforcement, mental health provider agencies and individuals and families affected by mental illness.
