Anneta Gail (Nickless) Green, the daughter of Oliver Vincent and Alpha Vera (Johnson) Nickless, born November 1, 1941, passed away peacefully at Medical Lodge in Butler, Missouri, January 8, 2017 surrounded by her family. She spent her childhood in the Kansas City area, graduating from Raytown High School in 1959. Shortly after completing her education, she met and then married Elbert “Bert” Green. They made their home in the Appleton City area and to this union three children were born: Lisa, Chris, and Matt. Along with raising her children and managing her household, Anneta attended and graduated from nursing school as a Registered Nurse in her early forties. She worked at both the hospital in Eldorado Springs, Missouri and Heartland Hospital for Children for more than a decade. She dearly loved her family and was a great mother and grandmother. One of her most cherished accomplishments was her graduation from nursing school with honors: “She never had a bigger smile on her face than that evening,” Bert mentioned. Apart from this, Anneta remained an avid reader of science fiction novels and watcher of sci-fi films, especially enjoying Star Trek. It could be said that Anneta was an original Trekkie! Furthermore, she spent many years actively working in the Bates County Genealogical Society. Everyone greatly enjoyed her culinary talents, as Anneta’s pies, biscuits, and cakes were among the finest in the area. Spending many happy hours in her garden, she dearly loved her Irises. She came to know Christ later in life, but always showed his presence through her tender care and kind words. Her family and friends will deeply miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles “Ray” Nickless. Anneta is survived by her husband Bert; children: Lisa (Mark) Stoddard, Chris (Karen) Green, Matt (Ladonna) Green; grandchildren: Amy (Jeff) Nold, Ashlee Stoddard, Brian (Sara) Green, Brett Stoddard and fiancĂ© Jessica, Rachel and Clinton Green; great-grandchildren: Austin, Kaylean and Evalyn Nold, and Brilyn.
