Obituary - Sue Ann Cochran

Sue Ann Cochran
Sue Ann Cochran passed away at St Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City on Jan 11, 2017 following a lengthy illness. Sue was born on Jan 25, 1942 to Reva and Emery Stewart at the General Hospital in Clinton, Mo. She grew up on the family farm west of Clinton with her two sisters Linda and Judy.
Sue received her education at the Mount Carmel school, Clinton High School, graduating in 1957 and Central Missouri State University.
Sue married John Cochran on Sept 27, 1959. They had two sons, Kenny and Doug, five grandchildren; Tabi, Kelsi, Calvin, Sally and George and two great grandchildren; Garret and Gage as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In 1979 Sue returned to CMSU and finished her accounting degree, graduating in 1981. Following graduation, she opened Cochran Bookkeeping and Tax and spent the next 35 years serving her loyal customers. Sue was active in the Clinton High School Booster Club, operated the Babe Ruth Baseball League concessions, served on the Clinton School Board, operated the Missouri State License Bureau, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Grandkids, politics, and traveling filled any free time.
Sue was very active in politics, working on numerous State and National Republican Party campaigns. Over the years she worked with John Danforth, Kit Bond, John Ashcroft and many others. Particular highlights included serving as Delegate to the 1976 Republican National Convention and attending the inauguration of George HW Bush. She was quite proud to have shaken hands with Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton and both Bushes.
After John’s retirement they took numerous trips throughout the country with family and friends. A favorite destination was Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS where they visited 37 times!!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Reva, and brother Bobby Stewart. She is survived by her husband of 57 years John Calvin Cochran, sisters; Linda (Gene) Pogue and Judy (Vernon) Harper; sons Kenny (Beth) Cochran and Doug (Patty) Cochran; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2 PM at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Missouri, visitation is one hour prior services. Interment will be at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.
