Leta Ruth (Keeton) Long, the daughter of Frank and Roxie (McKinley) Keeton passed away peacefully on April 16, 2017 at Countryside Estates in Appleton City, Missouri. She was born November 5, 1920 in the rural Roscoe area. Later she attended Roscoe School during her formative years. Following the completion of her education, she married the love of her life Elton Long on January 4, 1939 and to this union two sons were born: Nelson and Bill Long.

Throughout her life Leta always worked hard. From 1953 to 1963 she and Elton operated the Ohio Country Store, selling groceries, feed, and gasoline. After this tenure, they moved into Appleton City, where Leta worked at Fred Lee’s United Super Market as a cashier, and the Blue Inn as well as Embers Restaurants where she waited tables. Following many years of labor, Leta and Elton retired, and most enjoyed attending rodeo events, camping, and spending time with their grandchildren. For decades Leta took pride providing Friday luncheons for her entire family, where all ate their fill of grandma’s famous fried chicken and cinnamon rolls. She dearly loved and supported her family and they will deeply miss her.
