Students completed an application outlining their involvement in school activities, any offices they have held, their community involvement, and any awards received. The essay was an opportunity for the applicants to share with the judges their plans following high school graduation, what their interests and hobbies are, why they would like to go to Washington DC, and where they see themselves in ten years. The students’ essays were judged on content, neatness, independent thought, composition, grammar and presentation.
Approximately ninety Missouri high school juniors will join more than 1,500 students from across the country to experience a trip of a lifetime. The Missouri delegates will travel throughout Washington, DC visiting many of the sights our capital has to offer, learning about the political process, and interacting with their elected officials.
