Two reports of vandalism in Appleton City area

On April 12, a St. Clair County deputy took a report from Nancy Nelson in reference to someone shooting out her yard light at her residence on M Highway, Appleton City. Nelson stated a representative from Osage Valley Electric was currently at her residence to replace the light and photo cell.

The damage to the light totaled $162.94 and appeared to be caused by a small caliber bullet.

During the early morning hours on April 8, deputies were dispatched to a grass fire on NW 800 Road, Appleton City. A property owner reported a vehicle stopped in front of a residence and a gunshot was heard. After the shot, a street light went out and the grass underneath caught fire. Deputies were able to extinguish the fire and a bullet hole was discovered in the light fixture.

These cases are currently under investigation. Sheriff Keeler urges those with any related information to contact the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line, 417-646-5832, or email to tips@scsomo.org.
