From the desk of Butler Fire Chief Jason Bennett

On Wednesday, May 17 at 23:48 p.m. the Butler Fire Department was dispatched for a report of smoke filling a residence. Upon arrival a haze of smoke was found in the structure. 

The origin of smoke was determined to be a faulty power strip. There was no fire extension to the structure. 

As a reminder, do not overload power strips. Only use power strips that have an internal overload protection.
